You ask, we answer: Which fly trap to choose to eliminate cluster flies in flammable premises?

Everything you need to know about the control of cluster flies in flammable premises

The Titan® 300 is designed to cope with large flying insect infestations and can be effectively used against cluster flies. The unit is compliant with the relevant European norms and as such passes all safety tests. It is entirely made out of metal, robust and suited for professional applications.

The use in premises where daily supervision is unlikely combined with a potentially important fly infestation leads to the necessity to remove the catch-tray of the unit and instead place a large non-flammable box underneath to collect the dead cluster flies.

Should the catch-tray not be removed, dead insects may pile up and eventually touch the killing grid which could become a fire risk.

The installation should be in accordance with the instructions manual provided with the unit.

Furthermore, the following points must be noted:

  • Never install the equipment in an area where there is a risk of explosion due to high concentration of dust/vapours in the air (Atex zones)
  • Install so that the distance between the large non-flammable collection box and the unit is sufficient to avoid the risk of the pile of dead insects reaching the killing grid
  • The preferably metal collection box should be large enough to catch all dead insects subsequently to their electrocution on the killing grid
  • There should be no flammable material around the underneath of the unit
  • The collection box should be emptied regularly and the fly killer inspected, particularly the killing grid
  • A fire risk assessment at the premises must be conducted by the owners or appointed specialists.
